PBF -South Sudan brief
As conflict dynamics in South Sudan evolved in 2025, the Peacebuilding Fund strengthened its focus on a conflict sensitive approach, not only
to avoid harm, but to enable adaptation and more strategic portfolio steering. A portfolio wide conflict sensitivity assessment conducted
by the Conflict Sensitivity Resource Facility (CSRF) informed a sharper focus on reducing violence, reinforcement of peace networks, and
strengthening national capacities.
PBF supported projects responded in real time, as outlined in the examples included in this brief. Nonetheless, there is a need for more granular
assessment at the individual project level. Phase II of the Conflict Sensitivity Analysis will therefore introduce a stop–start–keep review at
project level, translating conflict sensitivity analysis into concrete tasks for projects. A comprehensive report of CSRF's work is anticipated to be finalized in May 2026.
