Communiqué by the Steering Committee on Durable Solutions

The Steering Committee on Durable Solutions convened on 15th January 2026 at the Ministry of Finance and Planning’s Meeting Hall, co-chaired by Hon. Albino Akol Atak, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, and Anita Kiki Gbeho, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator (DSRSG/RC/HC).

The meeting brough together National Ministers, State Governors’ representatives from Unity, Upper Nile and Western Bahr El Ghazal States and senior government representatives from key Ministries and Institutions, including: the Ministry of Peacebuilding; Ministry of Interior; Ministry of Finance and Planning; Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security; Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries; Ministry of Environment and Forestry; Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation; Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development; Ministry of General Education and Instruction; Ministry of Health; Ministry of Labour; Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare; Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management; the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC); and the Commission for Refugee Affairs. Participants also included IGAD, donors, United Nations agencies, and the NGO Forum.
